Egypt Eats is the newest restaurant to join the famous Eat Street. Choosing Church street in Parramatta was a conscious decision for owners Jordan Mursi and Mazen Rashwan who want to take advantage of the growth coming to the area. We sat down with Jordan before the opening to talk about concept.
Jordan, can you tell us a bit about Egypt Eats?
We wanted more people to be able to experience Egyptian cuisine. Egypt Eats will bring a fresh, modern take on Egyptian cuisine while also keeping true to its origins as well as its Indian and African influence. The space has been built from scratch, we have installed a new bar, lighting and an entirely new kitchen.
We will be trading 7 days for lunch and dinner, the menu will be designed to share with different set menus available for lunch and dinner as well. There will also be vegan options available such as Koshri.
We will also look to do breakfast on the weekends. Traditionally breakfast is a big social occasion in Egypt where lots of families come together once a week. We would love for our guests to come together on the weekends, relax after their long week and enjoy dishes like Foul (fava beans) and Shakshuka, traditional Egyptian dishes served for breakfast.
