Nathan’s small business experience includes owning and operating Casoni Restaurant in Darlinghurst, Sydney for six years. Nathan opened Casoni in 2012 and sold in November 2018 for 30% above the normal industry profit multiple. His role included not only day to day operations but also the financial management of the business as well as the marketing of the restaurant.
In 2015 Casoni was named the 6th highest rated restaurant in Australia on dimmi.com.au (now The Fork) with over 1000+ real diner reviews at the time. Nathan has hands-on restaurant marketing experience growing his own restaurants customer base through social media marketing and email marketing strategies which saw him exit the business with a 10,000+ strong database of engaged, loyal customers.
Outside of his small business experience, Nathan holds a double degree in Engineering (Civil) and Commerce (Finance) from the University of Sydney, spending 2 years working as a derivatives trader on the Japanese Stock Market prior to owning his restaurant and the last 4 years working in financial technology focussed on hospitality and retail businesses.
